Description:

CEDR CALL 2013 ENERGY EFFICIENCY: END OF PROGRAMME EVENT
European National Road Authorities (NRAs) are preparing themselves to introduce products and techniques to lower the energy demand during construction, operation and maintenance. The desired effects are lowering both the total energy costs and the carbon footprint (CO2 emission) promoting sustainable mobility. With this aim CEDR (the Conference of European Road Directors) launched a Call for Proposals on the topic of Energy Efficiency in 2013 (CEDR Call 2013 Energy Efficiency). The projects from this call recently delivered their results and will be presented at the CEDR seminar “Durable and Sustainable Roads”
The projects within this research are:
CONSISTEND: “Improved quality control to produce durable and sustainable roads”
EDGAR: “Methodology to evaluate sustainability of asphalt roads”
FUNDBITS: “Fundamental test methods for durable and sustainable roads”
The projects focused on practical methods that can be used/implemented directly by the NRAs. The seminar is intended to transfer knowledge from the projects to NRA employees to realise durable and sustainable roads, seeking to reach advisors working within the fields of road construction and maintenance, quality management, environment and asset management. Others such as researchers, contractors and institutions etc., are welcome to participate.
The seminar “Durable and Sustainable Roads” will take place at the Belgian Road Research Centre (BRRC) in Sterrebeek near Brussels on 10 November 2016 from 10:00 to 16:30. As BRRC can be reached in only 15 minutes by car from Brussels-Zaventem Airport and 30 minutes from Brussels South Station this will only require a one-day trip from most European locations. During the morning the projects will be introduced in plenary sessions, while in the afternoon it will be possible to learn about the projects outcome in interactive workshops.
The program and other relevant details of the seminar will be available before the summer holidays. However, we advise you to make the reservation now in your schedule.
